Be Prepared for Your Day at Charankako Bay
Charankako Bay provides the essentials (beach chair, showers, restrooms), but a little preparation makes your visit even better. Here is what we recommend.
Essentials
Towel
Not provided on-site. Bring your own for the beach and showers.
Swimsuit / beachwear
You will want to be ready for the water.
Sunscreen
The tropical sun is strong. Reef-safe sunscreen is recommended to protect the marine life.


Hat or cap
Umbrellas are not available on-site, so bring your own shade for the beach.
Water shoes
Recommended, especially if you plan to walk the ironshore areas or enter the water from rocky sections.
Cash or credit card
For food, snacks, and any add-on activities. USD and Lempiras accepted.
For the Tours

Honduras Circa 1950
- Comfortable walking shoes (the red stone path is well-maintained but has some inclines)
- Camera or phone for photos (butterfly selfie stand, sugar mill, lookout)

Bosque Enano
- Comfortable shoes with grip (wooden bridges can be slightly uneven)
- Camera for wildlife spotting

Horseback Riding
- Closed-toe shoes if possible
- Long pants recommended

Snorkeling
- Snorkel gear is provided
- Underwater camera if you have one
- Prior snorkeling experience is required (7+ years)

Kayaking
- Clothes you do not mind getting wet
- Secure strap for glasses or sunglasses
- Life vests are provided

- Outdoor public showers are available for rinsing off after the beach or water activities
- Restrooms are available in both the upper (Honduras Circa 1950) and lower (beach) areas
